11 Je Suis Paris
Nine days ago, 129 people died in Paris due to multiple terrorist attacks. I obviously cannot comprehend a lifestyle that would lead to the mass murdering of so many people, like most others. What happened was absolutely horrible. My sister, Rosalee, served in Paris for six months as a missionary before being transferred to Toul. The mission president, President Babin, sent a letter to saying all the missionaries were safe and my sister was allowed to email us personally. I am so grateful none of the missionaries died but my heart goes out to them for being their amidst the turmoil. More than that though, my heart goes out to those who lost loved ones that night. And those who have lived in Paris their whole lives suddenly facing such a tragic experience. After the disaster, we talked about it in my French and European Studies class. No one is unaffected by this. And we've been warned that this is only the beginning. I just hope the second coming is on its way soon, because the world is getting pretty bleak pretty fast. The amount of murders that happen regularly across our world is heartbreaking. I feel safe in my little bubble at BYU, but so many people in so many places are not. Even with all the security we have these things still happen. I pray for a strong and quick recovery for all who faced the Parisian tragedy and for safety that what is supposed to only be the beginning will be the entire ordeal.
